Outdoor education (6-12 years old) – Forest School "Pefkites"

We meet 5 Saturdays each season, from Fall to Summer, keeping our connection with the forest and the passing by of the changing of the seasons. With Free and experiential play at its core, during Forest Pedagogy children approach their life and individual fun in nature, through bush craft (handicrafts with natural materials that lead either to toys or crafts), Art of Land ( Art of the Earth and the ephemeral), gentle forms of hiking and exploration, elements of botany, geology and meteorology, free climbing on trees and rocks and of course through the cultivation of teamwork and friendship. They learn to self-regulate and take initiative, balancing risk with benefit for themselves and the others. They narrate, diving into ancient legends and myths based on the cycles of history and transformations, they protect nature because they now love our specific meeting point in the forest, which they get to know and understand in depth. Forest craft (constructions and handicrafts with natural materials), Familiarity with the archaeology (excavation, findings, orientations and imprinting), Creative Writing, Living techniques in the countryside (building a shelter from branches, lighting a fire in wet earth roasting potatoes and chestnuts, Mediterranean Botanology and creation of ‘my own scrap book’.
